This Week at Hope
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Brown Barn.
We will continue our study in Isaiah 26 beginning in verse 9, where we left off as we were considering the powerful lyrics of this song. I will progress through a few more verses and then complete the exposition the following week. In this way, when we complete Isaiah 26, we will have spent a total of three weeks in this chapter. It is a beautiful song, full of leadership for the soul. This is most likely why God created music. And, it is why we must, as Christians be very careful with what songs we allow to be heard with our hears and to live in our hearts. As Johann Sebastian Bach declared, “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” This song in Isaiah 26 fulfills the purpose.
It’s only Tuesday and we’ve had a fairly wild week… a new Burke baby and Sarah Espinoza’s hospital visit last night, a family move, and a few more things. Also, Please pray for Matthew Weir who is in the hospital or a planned surgery and tonight is struggling with some infection… please pray for him.
The songs we will be singing are:
O Worship the King O worship the King, all glorious above And gratefully sing His wonderful love Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air; it shines in the light It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail Thy mercies how tender, how firm till the end! Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend!
All hail to the King! In splendor enthroned Glad praises we bring, Thy wonders make known Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin King Jesus, all glorious, our vict’ry will win
You Are My Hiding Place You are my hiding place You always fill my heart With songs of deliverance Whenever I am afraid I will trust in You I will trust in You Let the weak say, “I am strong in the strength of the Lord”
Come, All Ye Pining Lord we adore thy boundless grace. The heights and depths unknown, Of pardon, life, and joy, and peace, In thy beloved Son. Come, all ye pining, hungry poor, The Savior’s bounty taste; Behold a never-failing store For ev’ry willing guest.
O wondrous gifts of love divine, Dear Source of ev’ry good; Jesus, in thee what glories shine! How rich thy flowing blood! Come, all ye pining, hungry poor, The Savior’s bounty taste; Behold a never-failing store For ev’ry willing guest.
Here shall your num’rous wants receive A free, a full supply; He has unmeasured bliss to give, And joys that never die. Come, all ye pining, hungry poor, The Savior’s bounty taste; Behold a never-failing store For ev’ry willing guest.
Speak O Lord Speak, O Lord, as we come to You To receive the food of Your Holy Word. Take Your truth, plant it deep in us; Shape and fashion us in Your likeness, That the light of Christ might be seen today In our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence, true humility; Test our thoughts and our attitudes In the radiance of Your purity. Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see Your majestic love and authority. Words of pow’r that can never fail – Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us – Truths unchanged from the dawn of time That will echo down through eternity. And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises, And by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us. Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built And the earth is filled with Your glory.
How Firm a Foundation How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He hath said To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not! I am with thee; O be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply. The flames shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose; I will not, I will not desert to his foes. That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!
