This Week at Hope – Behold Your God
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Burke home.
Our text for this week is Isaiah 40:9-11. If you would like to listen to an audio reading of Isaiah 40, click here to hear Bill Brown read it. The heart of our text this week, and the heart of the entire prophesy of Isaiah is, “Behold your God.” Here in this particular passage we see two marvelous disclosures of God – He is both a vanquishing enemy of evil and a merciful shepherd of his sheep.
Behold Our God
Who has held the oceans in His hands?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice
All creation rises to rejoice
Behold our God seated on His throne
Come, let us adore Him
Behold our King—nothing can compare
Come, let us adore Him
Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of His words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?
Who has felt the nails upon His hands?
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man
God eternal, humbled to the grave
Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign
Psalm 23
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; he leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
My soul he doth restore again;
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for his own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear none ill,
For thou art with me; and thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
My table thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me:
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be.
Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us
Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us
For our use Thy folds prepare
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are
We are Thine, do Thou befriend us
Be the Guardian of our way
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us
Seek us when we go astray
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Hear, O hear us when we pray
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Hear, O hear us when we pray
Thou hast promised to receive us
Poor and sinful tho’ we be
Thou hast mercy to relieve us
Grace to cleanse and pow’r to free
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Early let us turn to Thee
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Early let us turn to Thee
Early let us seek Thy favor
Early let us do Thy will
Blessed Lord and only Savior
With Thy love our beings fill
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still
Fairest Lord Jesus
Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature
O Thou of God and man the Son
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor
Thou my soul’s glory, joy, and crown
Fair are the meadows; fairer still the woodlands
Robed in the blooming garb of spring
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer
Who makes the woeful heart to sing
Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight
And all the twinkling starry host
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels heav’n can boast
Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration
Now and forevermore be Thine!
He Leadeth Me
He leadeth me! O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me
He leadeth me, He leadeth me
By His own hand He leadeth me
His faithful follow’r I would be
For by His hand He leadeth me
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine,
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis Thy hand that leadeth me
He leadeth me, He leadeth me
By His own hand He leadeth me
His faithful follow’r I would be
For by His hand He leadeth me
And when my task on earth is done,
When, by Thy grace, the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee
Since God thro’Jordan leadeth me
He leadeth me, He leadeth me
By His own hand He leadeth me
His faithful follow’r I would be
For by His hand He leadeth me
