This Week at Hope – Youths Mount Up With Wings Like Eagles
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Burke home.
Our scripture focus for this week – Isaiah 40:25-31 – brings us to what will most likely be the final message in Isaiah 40. Week after week we have been responding to Isaiah’s call to “Behold your God.” In these final words of the chapter, Isaiah contrasts the transitory rulers of the world, scarcely planted and sown, with the majestic God who counts and owns and controls the vastness of His infinite empire. He makes it clear that only those who wait for Him will have strength. And, they will “mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
The Songs are below:
All I Have Is Christ
I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave.
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will.
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still.
But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross.
And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace.
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me.
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose.
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You.
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
Isaiah 40:28-31
Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard
That firm remains on high
The everlasting throne of Him
Who formed the earth and sky?
Art thou afraid His pow’r shall fail
When comes thine evil day?
And can an all-creating arm
Grow weary or decay?
Supreme in wisdom as in pow’r
The Rock of Ages stands,
Though Him thou canst not see, nor trace
The working of His hands.
He gives the conquest to the weak,
Supports the fainting heart,
And courage in the evil hour
His heav’nly aids impart.
Mere human pow’r shall fast decay,
And youthful vigor cease,
But they who wait upon the Lord
In strength shall still increase.
They with unwearied feet shall tread
The path of life divine,
With growing ardor onward move,
With growing brightness shine.
On eagles’ wings they mount, they soar,
Their wings are faith and love –
Till, past the cloudy regions here,
They rise to heav’n above.
Rejoice, the Lord Is King
Rejoice, the Lord is King
Your Lord and King adore!
Rejoice, give thanks and sing and triumph evermore.
Lift up your heart; lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Jesus, the Savior, reigns
The God of truth and love;
When He had purged our stains, He took His seat above.
Lift up your heart; lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
His kingdom cannot fail;
He rules o’er earth and heav’n.
The keys of death and hell are to our Jesus giv’n.
Lift up your heart; lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
He sits at God’s right hand,
The Church’s great High Priest,
And all his enemies are placed beneath His feet.
Lift up your heart; lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Rejoice in glorious hope!
Our Lord, the Judge, shall come
And take His servants up to their eternal home.
Lift up your heart; lift up your voice!
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Complete In Thee
Complete in Thee, no work of mine
Could take, dear Lord, the place of Thine.
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And I shall stand complete in Thee!
Yea, justified, oh blessed thought!
And sanctified salvation-wrought!
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And glorified I, too, shall be.
Complete in Thee, each want supplied,
And no good thing to me denied,
Since Thou my portion, Lord, will be,
I ask no more, complete in Thee!
Complete in Thee, no more shall sin
Thy grace has conquered reign within;
Thy blood shall bid the tempter flee,
And I shall stand complete in Thee!
Dear Savior, when, before Thy bar,
All tribes and tongues assembled are,
Among the chosen I shall be,
At Thy right hand, complete in Thee!
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
O God our Help in ages past
Our Hope for years to come
Our Shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal Home!
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Still may we dwell secure
Sufficient is Thine arm alone
And our defense is sure
Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame
From everlasting Thou art God
To endless years the same
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun
O God our Help in ages past
Our Hope for years to come
Be Thou our Guide while life shall last
And our eternal Home
