This Week at Hope – I Will Pour Water on the Thirsty
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Brown’s Barn.
Are you rejoicing? Are you well watered? Are you growing? These are all works of the Holy Spirit. There are three conditions that human beings experience: First, Filled (for the believer). Second, Quenched (for the believer who needs to repent from resisting the Holy Spirit). Third, Deprived for the unbeliever who cannot know the comforts and guidance of the Holy Spirit because he cannot say, “I am the Lord’s.” Our scripture focus for Sunday is Isaiah 44:1-8, where the courtroom scene continues. God is still speaking to the various witnesses He has called to testify of His preferential love toward His people. He has the floor and, after addressing the people with no genuine love for Him, who are yawning through he worship, now He calls out to His own people who truly love Him and says, “do not fear, nor be afraid.” Why such a command? The rationale the Lord gives us is the power of the Holy Spirit. He is showing Judah what happens when the Holy Spirit is poured out. Profound and defining marks of the work of the Holy Spirit are described. We saw in chapter 43, where the jackals and the ostriches and the beasts, the unclean and despised and unworthy were recipients of God’s grace. Now He tells us again that they are watered from on high. See Joel 2:28-29 and John 7:37 for the fulfillment.
Overview of chapter 44:
1. He encourages the true church, v1-8
2. He exposes the stupidity of the idolaters, v9-20
3. He confirms His love, v21-28
Womens Mentoring will be meeting at the Brown Barn Wed at 10:00
The Songs we will be singing are:
O Worship the King
O worship the King, all glorious above
And gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air; it shines in the light
It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail
Thy mercies how tender, how firm till the end!
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend!
All hail to the King! In splendor enthroned
Glad praises we bring, Thy wonders make known
Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin
King Jesus, all glorious, our vict’ry will win
To God All Praise and Glory
All praise to God, who reigns above,
The God of all creation,
The God of wonders, pow’r, and love,
The God of our salvation!
With healing balm my soul he fills,
The God who every sorrow stills,
To God all praise and glory!
What God’s almighty pow’r hath made
His gracious mercy keepeth;
By morning dawn or evening shade
His watchful eye ne’er sleepeth;
Within the kingdom of his might,
Lo, all is just and all is right,
To God all praise and glory!
I cried to him in time of need:
Lord God, O, hear my calling!
For death he gave me life indeed
And kept my feet from falling.
For this my thanks shall endless be;
O thank him, thank our God, with me,
To God all praise and glory!
The Lord forsaketh not his flock,
His chosen generation;
He is their refuge and their rock,
Their peace and their salvation.
As with a mother’s tender hand
He leads his own, his chosen band,
To God all praise and glory!
Ye who confess Christ’s holy name,
To God give praise and glory!
Ye who the Father’s power proclaim,
To God give praise and glory!
All idols under foot be trod,
The Lord is God! the Lord is God!
To God all praise and glory!
Then come before his presence now
And banish fear and sadness;
To your Redeemer pay your vow
And sing with joy and gladness:
Though great distress my soul befell,
The Lord, my God, did all things well,
To God all praise and glory!
Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages, cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee
Let the water and the blood
From Thy wounded side which flowed
Be of sin the double cure
Save from wrath and make me pure
All the labors of my hands
Could not meet Thy law’s demands
Could my zeal no respite know
Could my tears forever flow
All for sin could not atone
Thou must save, and Thou alone
Nothing in my hands I bring
Simply to Thy cross I cling
Naked, come to Thee for dress
Helpless, look to Thee for grace
To Thy fountain, Lord I fly
Wash me Savior, or I die
While I draw this fleeting breath
When my eyes shall close in death
When I soar to worlds unknown
See Thee on Thy judgment throne
Rock of Ages, cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee!
Complete In Thee
Complete in Thee, no work of mine
Could take, dear Lord, the place of Thine.
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And I shall stand complete in Thee!
Yea, justified, oh blessed thought!
And sanctified salvation-wrought!
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And glorified I, too, shall be.
Complete in Thee, each want supplied,
And no good thing to me denied,
Since Thou my portion, Lord, will be,
I ask no more, complete in Thee!
Complete in Thee, no more shall sin
Thy grace has conquered reign within;
Thy blood shall bid the tempter flee,
And I shall stand complete in Thee!
Dear Savior, when, before Thy bar,
All tribes and tongues assembled are,
Among the chosen I shall be,
At Thy right hand, complete in Thee!
Before the Throne of God
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I Am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
