This Week at Hope – Christ Our Comfort; Christ Our Hope
Dear brothers and sisters, Prayer will be at the Brown’s Barn.
Are you weary? Does it seem like all of the lights have gone out on you? Sometimes our experience brings us to a point where we are ready to conclude that our God has forgotten or forsaken us. Has your past experience brought you to that point before? Mine has!
Maybe your experience is not just in the past; perhaps it is your present experience. There is good news for you: God has not forsaken you nor forgotten you. Even more good news: your Saviour, Who Himself had to walk in darkness, has a word suited to bring you relief. Are you ready for that word? Are you ready to listen? Are you ready to obey?
We come this week to Isaiah 51:1-16. He who now has the tongue of the learned says three times in this passage, “Listen to Me…” We find in this passage the antidote for weariness; for discouragement; for fear; and for forgetfulness. Christ here reminds us that He is building a kingdom – a kingdom that His grace has made us a part of. This is a “kingdom of…righteousness and joy and peace in the Holy Spirit,” described so wonderfully in this passage.
God has not forgotten or forsaken you. In fact, He has called you to something great and glorious – to be used as the means of His establishing the heavens, laying the foundations of the earth, and calling and comforting His Church. The question is: Are you listening?
