This Week at Hope – As Moses Lifted up the Serpent… so must the Son of Man be Lifted up
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Prayer will be held at the Brown’s Barn at 7:00 on Wednesday.
We continue the personal interview between the Lord Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3:9-21, which leads to what Matthew Henry has called “the very marrow and quintessence of the gospel.” We find Nicodemus completely baffled with this whole notion of the necessity of the new birth in order to enter the kingdom of God (:9). But rather than leaving him in his confusion, the Lord proceeds to reveal just how God will establish this kingdom.
In: 14 we see the means (the cross)
In: 15 we see the stakes (heaven and hell)
In: 16 we see the powerful motivation for God doing what He does (love)
In: 17 we see the purpose (salvation)
What more could be done for such a ruined race? After a long reign of spiritual darkness, Light – in the person of Christ – has broken into a benighted world!
On Sunday afternoon, as part of our series, “Joined and Knit Together,” Jason Dohm will be teaching at 1:30 on the roles and responsibilities of Deacons.
The Songs we will be singing are,
