This Week at Hope – The Father is Seeking True Worshipers
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Worship that is true worship touches every area of life… even the secret heartbreaking places. When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, He drilled down to the heart of the heartbreaking matter – her worship. Everything flows from worship. Her whole messed up life was the result of her worship. The fact that she had five failed marriages and was now sleeping with a man, not her husband was the direct result of her worship. The brackish water she had been drinking in was flowing out. On Sunday our scripture focus is John 4:15-26 where Jesus teaches us that, what you hunger and thirst for is what defines you. It is about how your true or false worship creates your life. And, it is about how a broken woman can become a fountain of living water. Before she met Jesus, she could not see beyond her neediness, being blinded by her unquenchable thirst for intimacy… which always eluded her. But Jesus shows her how worship can be real and healing when it is in “spirit” (how we worship) and in “truth” (whom we worship). As it turns out, the genuineness of our worship is the defining force in marriage, in affections and in racial relations.
On Sunday at 1:30, we will continue our church membership series, “Joined and Knit Together.” We will center our attention on the marks of our “An Ordinary Life together,” and how the ordinary means of grace are the means of an extraordinary experience.
Our Weekly Prayer Meeting will be held at the Brown’s Barn on Wed evening.
On Thursday the Keith and Hillman families will be at Carillon Assisted Living Facility. Anyone who has attended this can attest to the Blessing it is to the residents, as well as to us. It is such a great opportunity to be able to bring the Word of God, sing Hymns and fellowship there, for many, this is the only Gospel they will hear all week. Please contact Alan Hillman if you have questions or if you would like to join in [email protected]
Don’t forget the Father-Daughter Campout – June 1-2… More info to come. The dads will Bar B Q burgers on Friday night at 6:00 and the campout will conclude on Saturday afternoon.
The songs we will be singing together on Sunday are…

O Worship the King
O worship the King, all glorious above
And gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender,the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air; it shines in the light
It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail
Thy mercies how tender, how firm till the end!
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend!
All hail to the King! In splendor enthroned
Glad praises we bring, Thy wonders make known
Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin
King Jesus, all glorious, our vict’ry will win
Jesus, Where’er Thy People Meet
Jesus, where’er thy people meet,
There they behold thy mercy-seat;
Where’er they seek thee, thou art found,
And ev’ry place is hallowed ground.
For thou, within no walls confined,
Inhabitest the humble mind;
Such ever bring thee where they come,
And going, take thee to their home.
Dear Shepherd of thy chosen few,
Thy former mercies here renew;
Here to our waiting hearts proclaim
The sweetness of thy saving Name.
Here may we prove the pow’r of prayer
To strengthen faith and sweeten care,
To teach our faint desires to rise,
And bring all heav’n before our eyes.
Lord, we are few, but thou art near;
Nor short thine arm, nor deaf thine ear;
O rend the heav’ns, come quickly down,
And make a thousand hearts thine own.
Living Waters
Are you thirsty
Are you empty
Come and drink these living waters
Tired and broken
Peace unspoken
Rest beside these living waters
Christ is calling
Find refreshing
At the cross of living waters
Lay your life down
All the old gone
Rise up in these living waters
There’s a river that flows
With mercy and love
Bringing joy to the city of our God
There our hope is secure
Do not fear anymore
Praise the Lord of living waters
Spirit moving
Mercy washing
Healing in these living waters
Lead your children
To the shore line
Life is in these living waters
Are you thirsty
Are you empty
Come and drink these living waters
Love, forgiveness
Vast and boundless
Christ, He is our living waters
Come, All Ye Pining
Lord we adore Thy boundless grace.
The heights and depths unknown,
Of pardon, life, and joy, and peace,
In Thy beloved Son.
Come, all ye pining, hungry poor,
The Savior’s bounty taste;
Behold a never-failing store
For ev’ry willing guest.
O wondrous gifts of love divine,
Dear Source of ev’ry good;
Jesus, in Thee what glories shine!
How rich Thy flowing blood!
Here shall your num’rous wants receive
A free, a full supply;
He has unmeasured bliss to give,
And joys that never die.
In Christ Alone
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone! – who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!
