This Week at Hope – As God Thinks So Shall It Come to Pass
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Brown Barn.
We have a special blessing to anticipate on for Sunday – A Baptism – James Fletcher and Colton Niefert.
On Sunday we will engage the final summary of God’s judgment against Babylon and His judgment against the Philistines. Isaiah 14:25-32 brings these things together. In this final section of Isaiah 14, Ahaz dies; God arises; Assyria falls; Philistia is warned of its impending doom. But, God comforts His people with news of refuge. Behind it all is the invisible Hand of all of History. The “purpose that is purposed” will prevail. His “hand is stretched out over all the nations” (v26). God rules.
The songs we will be singing:
He Is Exalted #36
He is exalted, the King is exalted on high
I will praise Him
He is exalted, forever exalted, and I will praise His name!
He is the Lord; forever His truth shall reign
Heaven and earth rejoice in His holy name
He is exalted, the King is exalted on high
Be Still My Soul #712
Be still my soul! The Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Be still my soul! Thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Thro’ thorny ways leads to a joyful end
Be still my soul! Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still my soul! The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below
Be still my soul! The hour is hast’ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored
Be still my soul! When change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last
Psalm 83:13-18 (83B)
O Thou my God, make them to be
Like whirling dust that flies,
Like stubble blown before the wind
When winter storms arise.
As fire a forest burns, as flames
That blaze on mountains high,
So with Thy tempest them pursue,
With Thy storm terrify.
With shame their faces fill, O Lord,
That they may seek Thy name;
Disgraced and terrified be they
And perish in their shame.
So they shall know that Thou alone –
Jehovah is Thy name –
That Thou are the Most High, the One
O’er all the earth supreme.
Speak O Lord
Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow’r that can never fail –
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us –
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory.
Take My Life and Let it Be #597
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise
Let them flow in ceaseless praise
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee
Swift and beautiful for Thee
Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee
Filled with messages from Thee
Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose
Every power as Thou shalt choose
Take my love, my Lord I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take my self and I will be
Ever only all for Thee
Ever only all for Thee
Take my will and make it thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is thine own
It shall be thy royal throne
It shall be thy royal throne
