Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This week prayer will be held at the Brown Barn
Church discipline conference Update: The conference begins at noon on Thursday and concludes at 3:00 on Saturday. First, Please pray.
Second, We will have some of the attendees and speakers with us at Prayer on Wed night, including our dear brother Jeff Pollard.
Our scripture focus this week and for Sunday is Isaiah 52:1-12, where God continues to encourage the captives in Babylon as well as those who will be saved during the ministry of Christ in the days of the New Covenant. Since 49:15, He has been piling up one reminder after another of His faithfulness. Now He turns to making several commands to secure their fruitfulness and happiness after such a hard judgment.
Ladies Mentoring will be held at 10:00 at the Brown Barn where we will be studying chapter 18 of the Excellent Wife, which tells us how to deal with anger in a biblical manner.
Our Songs for Sunday are:
Note: The first two songs are a response to the implications of the Court’s recent ruling on same sex marriage. The remaining songs focus on Sunday’s passage…
This Is My Father’s World
The Son of God Goes Forth to War
The Church’s One Foundation
O Church Arise
All I Have Is Christ
This Is My Father’s World
This is my Father’s world, and to my list’ning ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world, I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought
This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise
The morning light, the lily white
Declare their Maker’s praise
This is my Father’s world, He shines in all that’s fair
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere
This is my Father’s world, O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet
This is my Father’s world, the battle is not done
Jesus, who died, shall be satisfied
And earth and heav’n be one
The Son of God Goes Forth to War
The Son of God goes forth to war,
A kingly crown to gain;
His blood-red banner streams afar;
Who follows in His train?
Who best can drink His cup of woe,
Triumphant over pain,
Who patient bears his cross below,
He follows in His train.
The martyr first, whose eagle eye
Could pierce beyond the grave,
Who saw his Master in the sky,
And called on Him to save;
Like Him, with pardon on his tongue
In midst of mortal pain,
He prayed for them that did the wrong;
Who follows in his train?
A glorious band, the chosen few
On whom the Spirit came,
Twelve valiant saints, their hope they knew
And mocked the cross and flame;
They met the tyrant’s brandished steel,
The lion’s gory mane;
They bowed their necks the death to feel;
Who follows in their train?
A noble army, men and boys,
The matron and the maid,
Around the Savior’s throne rejoice,
In robes of light arrayed;
They climbed the steep ascent of heav’n
Through peril, toil and pain;
O God to us may grace be giv’n
To follow in their train.
The Church’s One Foundation
The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord
She is His new creation
By water and the Word
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy bride
With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died
Elect from every nation
Yet one o’er all the earth
Her charter of salvation:
One Lord, one faith, one birth
One holy Name she blesses,
Partakes one holy food
And to one hope she presses
With every grace endued
The Church shall never perish!
Her dear Lord to defend,
To guide, sustain, and cherish,
Is with her to the end:
Though there be those who hate her,
And false sons in her pale,
Against both foe or traitor
She ever shall prevail.
Though with a scornful wonder
Men see her sore oppressed,
By schisms rent asunder,
By heresies distressed:
Yet saints their watch are keeping,
Their cry goes up, “How long?”
And soon the night of weeping
Shall be the morn of song!
‘Mid toil and tribulation
And tumult of her war
She waits the consummation
Of peace forevermore
Till with the vision glorious
Her longing eyes are blessed
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest
Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won,
With all her sons and daughters
Who, by the Master’s hand
Led through the deathly waters,
Repose in Eden land.
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
Like them, the meek and lowly,
On high may dwell with Thee:
There, past the border mountains,
Where in sweet vales the Bride
With Thee by living fountains
Forever shall abide!
O Church Arise
O church arise and put your armor on
Hear the call of Christ our Captain
For now the weak can say that they are strong
In the strength that God has given
With shield of faith and belt of truth
We’ll stand against the devil’s lies
An army bold whose battle cry is Love
Reaching out to those in darkness
Our call to war to love the captive soul
But to rage against the captor
And with the sword that makes the wounded whole
We will fight with faith and valor
When faced with trials on every side
We know the outcome is secure
And Christ will have the prize for which He died
An inheritance of nations
Come see the cross where love and mercy meet
As the Son of God is stricken
Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet
For the Conqueror has risen
And as the stone is rolled away
And Christ emerges from the grave
This victory march continues till the day
Every eye and heart shall see Him
So Spirit come put strength in every stride
Give grace for every hurdle
That we may run with faith to win the prize
Of a servant good and faithful
As saints of old still line the way
Retelling triumphs of His grace
We hear their calls and hunger for the day
When with Christ we stand in Glory
All I Have Is Christ
I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave.
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will.
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still.
But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross.
And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace.
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me.
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose.
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You.
