This Week at Hope – The Whole Head is Sick
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Brown Barn
Modern man has no place for visions like we see in Isaiah, where God Himself speaks to man, through man about man. It has no place for a holy man. It has no place for judgment. It has no place for cause and effect. This stark reality is challenged in our text for this week – Isaiah 1:1-9. It shows us that God does speak to man about his condition. But it was not Isaiah’s brilliance of insight that formed the message, but it was divine insight. Isaiah chapter one begins with the most important reality that exists in the universe – God sees. He sees through all the posturing and pride of man because He knows exactly what is happening. And not only does He see, he speaks to a troubled world. He speaks from the outside looking in. Further, He not only speaks, He also brings judgment. Finally, he preserves a remnant. Our text begins with a man, a vision, a summons, witnesses, and the accusations against a people in collapse. It is a sad story of a people who have revolted against the Lord, laden with iniquity and sick for it. But it does not end there for He reminds us that He will preserve a remnant spark from which His kingdom will continue glowing and advancing until that great gathering at the end of the age.

The songs are as follows:
And Can It Be
And can it be that I should gain
An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain;
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me.
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me.
He left His Father’s throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace,
Humbled Himself because of love
And bled for all His chosen race.
‘Tis mercy all, immense and free
For, O my God, it found out me.
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me.
Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quick’ning ray –
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light.
My chains fell off; my heart was free.
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me.
No condemnation now I dread
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine
Bold I approach th’eternal throne
And claim the crown, thro’ Christ my own.
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me.
Grace Greater Than Our Sin
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within!
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold
Threaten the soul with infinite loss
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold
Points to the refuge, the mighty cross
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within!
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! there is flowing a crimson tide
Whiter than snow you may be today
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within!
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see His face
Will you this moment His grace receive?
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within!
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
A Broken Spirit
A broken spirit and a contrite heart
You will not despise, You will not despise
You desire truth in the inward parts
A broken spirit and a contrite heart
Lord, my heart is prone to wander
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, Lord take and seal it
Seal it for Your courts above
There Is a Fountain
There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains
Lose all their guilty stains
Lose all their guilty stains
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains
The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day
And there may I, though vile as he
Wash all my sins away
Wash all my sins away
Wash all my sins away
And there may I, though vile as he
Wash all my sins away
Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow’r
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more
Be saved to sin no more
Be saved to sin no more
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more
E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die
And shall be till I die
And shall be till I die
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die
When this poor lisping, stamm’ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save
Wonderful Grace of Jesus
Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Greater than all my sin.
How shall my tongue describe it?
Where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden,
Setting my spirit free.
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
Chorus:
Wonderful the matchless grace, the matchless grace of Jesus;
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea, the rolling sea.
Wonderful grace, all sufficient for me, for even me.
Broader than the scope of my transgressions;
Greater far than all my sin and shame.
O magnify the precious name of Jesus;
Praise His name!
Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching a mighty host.
By it I have been pardoned,
Saved to the uttermost.
Chains have been torn asunder,
Giving me liberty;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching the most defiled.
By its transforming power
Making him God’s dear child.
Purchasing peace and heaven
For all eternity;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
