This Week at Hope – The Whole Head is Sick, The Whole Heart is Faint
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Brown Barn.
We will be launching our study in Isaiah on Sunday and I will be giving an overview of the book. I would like to encourage you to read the first 12 chapters of Isaiah to get an overview of the first section of the book where Isaiah directs his prophesy to his own nation of Judah. It only takes about 50 minutes total to read the first twelve chapters. Then, in chapter 13 the Lord turns his prophesy toward various surrounding nations. Written in the 8th century BC, Isaiah prophesies the fall of Jerusalem in 722BC and the Bablylonian captivity later on. It is the third longest book in the Bible. Psalms is the longest, the second longest: Jeremiah, then the third longest Isaiah. It is primarily written in the form of poetry. It is a prophesy of God’s judgment, salvation and restoration. More is revealed about Christ in Isaiah than any other prophetic book. The outline of Isaiah is very simple. Chapters 1-39 focus on the coming judgment and woe. Chapters 40-66 focus on salvation and the comforts of the Lord.
Pray for the fathers and daughters for our upcoming Father Daughter Retreat. We have been informed by those operating the river that the waters will be too high for use, so we are planning to bring canoes over to the Brown property instead.
The songs are as follows:
I Sing the Mighty Power of God #128
I sing the mighty pow’r of God that made the mountains rise
That spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day
The moon shines full at His command and all the stars obey
I sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food
He formed the creatures with His word and then pronounced them good
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed wher-e’er I turn my eye
If I survey the ground I tread or gaze upon the sky
There’s not a plant or flow’r below but makes Thy glories known
And clouds arise and tempests blow by order from Thy throne
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care
And everywhere that man can be, Thou, God, art present there
To God Be the Glory #56
To God be the glory – great things He hath done!
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the life-gate that we may go in
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thro’ Jesus, the Son
And give Him the glory – great things He hath done
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood
To every believer, the promise of God
The vilest offender who truly believes
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thro’ Jesus, the Son
And give Him the glory – great things He hath done
Great things He hath taught us; great things He hath done
And great our rejoicing thro’ Jesus, the Son
But purer and higher and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thro’ Jesus, the Son
And give Him the glory – great things He hath done
How Sweet and Awesome Is This Place
How sweet and awesome is this place
With Christ within the doors,
While everlasting love displays
The choicest of her stores!
Here every bowel of our God
With soft compassion rolls;
Here peace and pardon bought with blood
Is food for dying souls.
While all our hearts and all our songs
Join to admire the feast,
Each of us cry, with thankful tongues,
“Lord, why was I a guest?”
“Why was I made to hear Thy voice,
And enter while there’s room,
When thousands make a wretched choice,
And rather starve than come?”
’Twas the same love that spread the feast
That sweetly drew us in;
Else we had still refused to taste,
And perished in our sin.
Pity the nations, O our God!
Constrain the earth to come;
Send Thy victorious Word abroad,
And bring the strangers home.
We long to see Thy churches full,
That all the chosen race
May with one voice, and heart and soul,
Sing Thy redeeming grace.
Speak O Lord
Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow’r that can never fail –
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us –
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory.
Standing on the Promises #410
Standing on the promises of Christ, my King!
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring
“Glory in the highest!” I will shout and sing
Standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises that cannot fail
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living Word of God I shall prevail
Standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free
Standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises, I cannot fall
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my All in All
Standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God
