This Week At Hope – A Defining Institution
Brothers and Sisters,
Prayer will be held at the Noah’s
The Bible answers some of the most difficult questions… How can a family navigate the cataclysmic shifts in our culture? How do you build your house on the rock in the midst of the shifting sands as children get older? How do you prepare your children to engage this new world of hyper-relativism, gender fluidity, the LGBT movement and the challenges of the internet age? How do you fortify your children where the very language, the very words that the world uses misrepresents human problems and solutions and dulls the conscience over sin. God prescribes solutions for these things. What parents do with their children and what children do with their parents is a central to answering these questions, for God has prescribed clearly defined duties for both in His Word in order that His people are preserved in the midst of a wicked and perverse generation. You can find these answers from Genesis to Revelation. On Sunday, we will continue our series on family life examining God’s Holy Word on these matters, using Eph. 6:1-4 and Deut 6;1-9 as a springboard to the whole counsel of God on these matters.
The Songs we will be singing on Sunday are:
- Doxology / Crown Him with Many Crowns
- The God of Abraham Praise
- Not in Me
- O Great God
- Jesus Shall Reign
Crown Him with Many Crowns
Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark! how the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Thro’ all eternity
Crown Him the Lord of Love!
Behold His hands and side –
Rich wounds, yet visible above
In beauty glorified
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
For Thou Hast died for me
Thy praise and glory shall not fail
Thro’out eternity
Crown Him the Lord of life!
Who triumphed o’er the grave
Who rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die
Crown Him the Lord of Heav’n!
One with the Father known
One with the Spirit thro’ Him giv’n
From yonder glorious throne
To Thee be endless praise
For Thou for us hast died
Be Thou, O Lord, thro’ endless days
Adored and magnified
The God of Abraham Praise
The God of Abraham praise,
At whose supreme command
From earth I rise, and seek the joys
At his right hand:
I all on earth forsake,
Its wisdom, fame, and power;
And him my only portion make,
My Shield and Tower.
He by himself hath sworn,
I on his oath depend;
I shall, on eagle’s wings upborne,
To heav’n ascend:
I shall behold his face,
I shall his power adore,
And sing the wonders of his grace
For evermore.
The goodly land I see,
With peace and plenty blest,
A land of sacred liberty
And endless rest;
There milk and honey flow,
And oil and wine abound,
And trees of life for ever grow,
With mercy crowned.
There dwells the Lord our King,
The Lord our righteousness;
Triumphant over the world and sin,
The Prince of Peace
On Zion’s sacred height
His kingdom still maintains,
And glorious with his saints in light
For ever reigns.
The whole triumphant host
Give thanks to God on high;
Hail Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
They ever cry:
Hail Abraham’s God and mine!
I join the heavenly lays
All might and majesty are thine,
And endless praise.
Not in Me
No list of sins I have not done,
No list of virtues I pursue,
No list of those I am not like
Can earn myself a place with You.
O God, be merciful to me
I am a sinner through and through!
My only hope of righteousness
Is not in me, but only You.
No humble dress, no fervent prayer,
No lifted hands, no tearful song,
No recitation of the truth
Can justify a single wrong.
My righteousness is Jesus’ life,
My debt was paid by Jesus’ death,
My weary load was borne by Him
And He alone can give me rest.
No separation from the world,
No work I do, no gift I give
Can cleanse my conscience, cleanse my hands;
I cannot cause my soul to live.
But Jesus died and rose again
The power of death is overthrown!
My God is merciful to me
And merciful in Christ alone.
My righteousness is Jesus’ life,
My debt was paid by Jesus’ death,
My weary load was borne by Him
And He alone can give me rest.
O Great God
O great God of highest heaven
Occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme
Conquer every rebel power
Let no vice or sin remain
That resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me
Make me Yours forevermore
I was blinded by my sin
Had no ears to hear Your voice
Did not know Your love within
Had no taste for heaven’s joys
Then Your Spirit gave me life
Opened up Your Word to me
Through the gospel of Your Son
Gave me endless hope and peace
Help me now to live a life
That’s dependent on Your grace
Keep my heart and guard my soul
From the evils that I face
You are worthy to be praised
With my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven
Glorify Your Name through me
Jesus Shall Reign
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Does its successive journeys run
His kingdom spread from shore to shore
Till moons shall wax and wane no more
To Him shall endless prayer be made
And endless praises crown His head
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice
To our King be highest praise
Rising through eternal days
Just and faithful – He shall reign.
Jesus shall reign.
People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His name
Let every creature rise and bring
His grateful honors to our King
Angels descend with songs again
And earth repeat the loud ‘Amen!’
