This Week at Hope – Examining Our Religion by God’s Standards
Dear brothers and sisters,
This Sunday we will continue our study of James (1:19-27). James continues to show us what real faith is like. It affects how we process trials; it affects how we face temptation; but it also has an impact on how we hear, how we speak, and how we live. We are to have a faith-shaped life – that is to say, our faith should shape how we go about our daily lives. There is also in our passage a warning against self-deception – the worst sort of deception there can be. May God grant us grace to see ourselves as we really are and to respond to the truth James sets before us.
Prayer tonight will be at the Brown’s barn.

Songs for Wednesday prayer mtg:
Love Lifted Me
I was sinking deep in sin,
Far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within,
Sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea
Heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me
Now safe am I.
Refrain
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me!
All my heart to Him I give;
Ever to Him I’ll cling,
In His blessed presence live,
Ever His praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true
Merits my sou’s best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too,
To Him belongs.
[Refrain]
Souls in danger, look above;
Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by His love
Out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea,
Billows His will obey;
He your Savior wants to be,
Be saved today.
[Refrain]
The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want
Scottish Psalter, 1650
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
My soul He doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me,
And in God’s house forevermore
My dwelling-place shall be.
You Are My Hiding Place
You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You
I will trust in You
Let the weak say
I am strong
In the strength of the Lord
A Shield About Me
Thou, O Lord, are a shield about me;
You’re my glory, You’re the lifter of my head.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! You’re the lifter of my head.
Seek Ye First
Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And His righteousness,
And all these things shall be added unto you
Allelu, alleluia!
