This Week at Hope – Profile of an Authentic Gospel Ministry
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As you know we have been partnering with Antioch Baptist Church in Blantyre Malawi for many years. It started with our support of missionaries Frank and Victor Maxon who were laboring with Malamuolo Chindongo to plant a church in Blantyre. About 3 years ago Frank turned the work over to Mala so that the church would be led by nationals. This Sunday, Mala and his wife Rachel and their two children will be with us at Hope. Mala will be preaching at both our Sunday morning and Sunday evening services. Our scripture focus is Acts 17. On Sunday morning he will focus on Acts 17:1-15, where Paul visits Thessalonica and then Berea. Then, on Sunday evening, he will be preaching on the final part of Acts 17 where Paul encounters the philosophers in Athens.
Prayer will be held at the Brown’s Barn
On Moving the Bunn Family: Please consider 2 things: 1) Over the next couple days please Pray for a smooth transaction / closing. 2) Wednesday at 2pm the Bunns (Lord willing) will be unpacking a Uhaul and moving into their new home. Justin’s number is 919. 673.2280 (They are also loading Tuesday night if you have any time available) Please pray, and if you can provide some physical help it would be greatly appreciated. You can let Alan Hillman or Justin know directly of you have any questions or want to let us know you can make it.
Please pray for Scott… On Thursday, he will be traveling to meet with a group of pastors in Bremerton Washington at Westside Baptist Church, and then to deliver messages at the Noah Conference in Ocean Shores Washington on Friday and Saturday. He will be returning to Wake Forest on Saturday.
The Songs we will be singing on Sunday are,
- O Worship the King
- More, More About Jesus
- Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul
- Speak, O Lord
- Standing on the Promises
O Worship the King
O worship the King, all glorious above
And gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender,the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air; it shines in the light
It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail
Thy mercies how tender, how firm till the end!
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend!
All hail to the King! In splendor enthroned
Glad praises we bring, Thy wonders make known
Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin
King Jesus, all glorious, our vict’ry will win
More, More About Jesus
More about Jesus would I know,
More of His grace to others show,
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.
More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus,
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.
More about Jesus let me learn,
More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my Teacher be,
Showing the things of Christ to me.
More about Jesus in His Word,
Holding communion with my Lord;
Hearing His voice in ev’ry line,
Making each faithful saying mine.
More about Jesus on His throne,
Riches in glory all His own;
More of His kingdom’s sure increase;
More of His coming, Prince of Peace.
Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul
Dear refuge of my weary soul, on Thee, when sorrows rise,
On Thee, when waves of trouble roll, my fainting hope relies.
To Thee I tell each rising grief, for Thou alone canst heal;
Thy Word can bring a sweet relief for every pain I feel.
But oh! When gloomy doubts prevail, I fear to call Thee mine;
The springs of comfort seem to fail, and all my hopes decline.
Yet gracious God, where shall I flee? Thou art my only trust;
And still my soul would cleave to Thee, though prostrate in the dust.
Hast Thou not bid me seek Thy face, and shall I seek in vain?
And can the ear of sov’reign grace be deaf when I complain?
No, still the ear of sov’reign grace attends the mourner’s prayer;
O may I ever find access to breathe my sorrows there.
Thy mercy seat is open still, here let my soul retreat;
With humble hope attend Thy will, and wait beneath Thy feet.
Thy mercy seat is open still, here let my soul retreat;
With humble hope attend Thy will, and wait beneath Thy feet.
Speak, O Lord
Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow’r that can never fail –
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us –
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory.
Standing on the Promises
Standing on the promises of Christ, my King!
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring
“Glory in the highest!” I will shout and sing
Standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises that cannot fail
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living Word of God I shall prevail
Standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free
Standing on the promises of God
Standing on the promises, I cannot fall
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my All in All
Standing on the promises of God
O worship the King, all glorious above
