This Week at Hope: Salvation Through a Tragedy and a Desperate Father
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Prayer will be at the Noah’s home tonight.
Knit and Joined Together will be focusing on how we should think about and conduct ourselves as “A Worshipping Church.”
In our scripture focus on Sunday, (John 4:43-54), Jesus saves a boy from physical death. But his sickness leads to the salvation from spiritual death in his father and the whole family. This is the second “sign” or miracle in the Gospel of John designed to help us believe in Jesus. Here is what we have in this section – a physical healing that bears witness to the spiritual healing that only Jesus Christ can bring. The meaning of this miracle is this: Jesus snatches people bound for hell in their hour of need. This is what happened to a boy, and his whole family. The spiritual meaning of the text which is that Jesus Christ is the healer of souls and makes even little children come alive and whole families believe. And, all of this happened because of a perceived tragedy – a boy was dying. His death opened the door to life.
The songs we will be singing are:
- Come thou fount of every Blessing
- Be unto your name
- The power of the cross
- What God Ordains is Always Good
- Wonderful Merciful Savior
