This Week at Hope – Seek the Lord While He May Be Found
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Prayer will be held at the Daming home.
Our scripture focus this week is Isaiah 55: 6-13 where God continues to call His people to take of His goodness. We first encounter The command to seek the Lord, 6-7. With this we may consider a day when He may no longer be found and so we ought to “Seek” and “Call.” In this section He calls us to forsake unrighteousness. Here, God delivers three elements of the way of repentance: 1. Forsake your way. 2. Forsake your thoughts. 3. Return to the Lord. Then the Lord explains the results of calling on Him. Then, in v8-9, He explains the greatness of His mercy, v9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Then, in v10-11, He speaks of the fruit of repentance. Then in the final section, v12-13 the Lord describes the effect of His mercy, v12 “For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. One thing is clear from this section, His mercy is great – greater than you sin.
