Remember the Friday night Memorial Day Get Together for those who worked on Memorial Day. Friday, June 17 at the Brown’s starting at 3:00, come relax in the lake (life jackets required, the Browns have some), play frisbee, spike ball, volleyball, or relax in the shade. 6:30 Fun Family kickball game. 7:30 Dinner, sharing, and celebrating. We need a couple of folks to bring their grills. Hope will provide hot dogs and/or hamburgers, plates, napkins, etc. Everyone else can bring a side dish, watermelon, or desert. Please email the Soliks if you’ll be attending and the number in your family. If you can bring a grill, please email the Soliks also.
Regarding our scripture study this week: The Corinthian church was majoring on the minors… they were very proud of their knowledge, prophesy and tongues… but they had lost the weightier matters of the law – specifically, love. As we conclude our studies in 1 Cor 13:8-13, Paul sums up his instruction with the message that love is the supreme expression of God’s presence in a church. He states the superiority and eternality of love in v8, “Love never fails…” and v13, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
