This Week at Hope – “Who can stand?”
Brothers and Sisters,
On Sunday the morning service will focus on Revelation 6:9-8:1, where we are brought to see three vivid pictures. These pictures show us first, the hatred of unbelievers toward the church through the experience of martyrs under the altar (v9-11) and second; God shutting down their persecutions in the final judgment where all classes of unbelievers want to die instead of face God (v12-17). Third, the loving protection, “sealing,” of those who follow the Lord, and their final resting place, where every tear dried from their eyes (7:1-8:1). This section (which should not be divided by the chapter break), runs to Rev 8:1. The focus of this entire section answers the question, “who can stand,” (6:17). he terrible judgments against those who have rejected the Lamb, and those who are cared for, “sealed.” This section also shows us the cyclical nature of Revelation, with this cycle ending in the second coming.
Prayer will be held at the Brown’s Barn… keep praying for Newton who is still in prison in difficult circumstances, with no trial date set yet.
