Dear Brothers and Sisters, Prayer will be held at the Burkes.
Our scripture focus this week, is Isaiah 9:1-7 which speaks of the sweeping away of gloom and darkness through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the light, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12. The interpretation of this prophesy is made simple by Matthew 4:13-25 This event that Isaiah writes about is clearly fulfilled in Christ, And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: 16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.” 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” We will also summarize the names of God in verse 6, but then come back to them the following week to spend some extended time considering the names of Jesus: “wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace.”
Projected move in date to new building on Averette Road is possibly December 29… could be later, but we may be able to move in then depending on the fit up items.
Sunday afternoon teaching at Sovereign Redeemer – Elder Care. Several weeks ago, James Lundquist and Michael McCurdy of Sovereign Redeemer traveled to Colorado to attend an event sponsored by Kevin Swanson regarding caring for the elderly. This Sunday afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m., they will be giving a summary of what they learned and their thoughts about ways we might be able to care for the elderly in our extended families, in our churches, and in our community. Anyone from Hope who would like to attend is welcome.”
