Brothers and Sisters,
What does Jesus do? What is he all about? In John 32-42 Jesus answers these questions before the Jews. Jesus has just said, “I and the Father are one.” This is massively revealing. When Jesus said that, immediately He is surrounded by men ready to stone Him. What does he do? He keeps speaking words of grace. He says, “many good works I have shown you from My Father, for which one do you stone me?” Jesus appeals to them to consider his actions during His ministry. He has always been doing works, “from My Father.” In order to help them see who they are, Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6, which is a rebuke to the unjust judges of Israel. Jesus message is this: believe, because of my works. What would make you believe? Or, what would make you disbelieve? What do you think He would do to you if you followed Him?
Paul Carrington will be delivering the afternoon message on, The Love of God.
Prayer will be held at the Burke home
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near,
Join me in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord who doth prosper thy work and defend thee!
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;
Ponder anew what the Almighty will do,
If with His love He befriend thee!
Praise to the Lord, Who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee,
Decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed thee.
How oft in grief hath not He brought thee relief,
Spreading His wings to o’ershade thee!
Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the ‘Amen’ sound from His people again,
Gladly forever adore Him!
Psalm 100
(tune: The Old Hundredth)
All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell;
Come ye before Him and rejoice.
The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.
O enter then His gates with praise;
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His Name always,
For it is seemly so to do.
For why? the Lord our God is good;
His mercy is for ever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery
Come behold the wondrous mystery
In the dawning of the King
He the theme of heaven’s praises
Robed in frail humanity
In our longing, in our darkness
Now the light of life has come
Look to Christ, who condescended
Took on flesh to ransom us
Come behold the wondrous mystery
He the perfect Son of Man
In His living, in His suffering
Never trace nor stain of sin
See the true and better Adam
Come to save the hell-bound man
Christ the great and sure fulfillment
Of the law; in Him we stand
Come behold the wondrous mystery
Christ the Lord upon the tree
In the stead of ruined sinners
Hangs the Lamb in victory
See the price of our redemption
See the Father’s plan unfold
Bringing many sons to glory
Grace unmeasured, love untold
Come behold the wondrous mystery
Slain by death the God of life
But no grave could e’er restrain Him
Praise the Lord; He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliverance
How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected
As we will be when He comes
Speak, O Lord
Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow’r that can never fail –
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us ñ
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we’ll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we’ll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory.
Jesus! what a Friend for Sinners!
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Saviour, makes me whole.
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!
Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my vict’ry wins.
Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.
Jesus! what a guide and keeper!
While the tempest still is high,
Storms about me, night o’ertakes me,
He, my pilot, hears my cry.
Jesus! I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find,
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am His, and He is mine.
Dear brothers & sisters,
Brothers and Sisters,
My soul He doth restore again;
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear none ill,
For Thou art with me; and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me:
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be.
Dear ones,
Ecclesiastes 9 will be our text for this Sunday. In this chapter, Solomon continues to hold before us what is good for us in this vain life of ours. He as it were takes us behind the scenes in order to show us that things aren’t always the way they seem on the surface. Rather than leaving us to have to deal with these things unprepared and on our own, Solomon provides us a peek behind the scenes – a view that should enable us to deal with the ’time and chance that happen to [us] all.’
In the very midst of this invitation to peek behind the scenes, Solomon tells us to simply stop and smell the roses; to enjoy God’s good gifts; to make the most of our God-given days that are passing by like the wind. If that sounds unspiritual or worldly to us, then I would propose to you that we are not thinking rightly about our God, His gifts, and our life.
Prayer on Wednesday night will be held at the Burke’s house.
Our afternoon teaching this Sunday will be brought to us by Ash Noah on the subject of The Grace of God.

Brothers and sisters,
Our text for Sunday will be Ecclesiastes 8. Just as in the previous chapter, Solomon here in chapter 8 continues to encourage sound wisdom for everyday living, but he also continues to show the limitations of whatever wisdom we are able to acquire and apply. This theme is highlighted by the bookends of this chapter which declare, “Who is like a wise man?” in verse 1 and then, “though a wise man attempts to know the work that is done under the sun, he will not be able to find it.” We will see here wisdom’s observations and her applications but will also note her limitations. We will look
I hope each one of you is laboring with us in prayer as we work our way through our prayer guides this week. As part of our Prayer Week, we have set aside Wednesday as a day of fasting. We will gather together at the church building at 6:00 pm to break the fast with a meal being provided by the church. After dinner, we will remain at the church building for our weekly time of prayer.
Please pray for Paul Carrington, Michael Templeton, and Jason Dohm as they travel to Colorado this weekend to bring the ‘Hold the Rope’ vision to Kevin Swanson’s congregation on Sunday. Please also pray for Scott as he ministers at Sovereign Redeemer Community Church on Sunday.
The Sunday afternoon teaching will be handled by Josh Keith. He will continue our study of the attributes of God by teaching on The Faithfulness of God.
Our songs for Sunday are:
Dear ones, this Sunday finds us back in our study of Ecclesiastes, dealing with 7:15-29. This text before us deals with our tendency to be discontent with the ‘crooked’ portions God weaves into our lives – those days of adversity that seem to rest upon God’s people more frequently than the worldling who is living for pleasure. Such discontent sends us to all the wrong places for the solution.
When it comes to how we live out these days God gives us, Solomon looks around and finds the multitudes consumed with a zeal for righteousness (of the ’self’ brand), or a zeal for wisdom, or even some consumed with a zeal for wickedness and foolishness. What he fails to see in the multitudes is a fear of Almighty God,
So here is the question we are left to wrestle with: Am I that one among a thousand? Will I be that one among a thousand? Will I be that one who profits from a consideration of God’s dealings in my life because I am living life backward? Or will I be like the multitudes – seeking for the good things in all the wrong places and declaring that all is vanity and chasing the
